Nagalapuram: Sri Veda Narayana Swamy Temple Darshan Timings. Significance of Sri Vedavalli Sameta Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Mandir, Nagalapuram

Nagalapuram, the sacred temple is the abode of Sri Veda Narayana Swamy(Lord Vishnu) and his consorts Sri Sridevi and Bhoodevi. The main deity of the temple is in the form Matysa(Fish) Avatar [First Avatar of Dasavatar's of Lord Maha Vishnu) holding the Sudarshan Chakram in Prayoga(ready for release).

The temple is located in Nagalapuram Village. It is about at a distance of 70KM South-East of Tirupati, Chittor District, AndhraPradesh, India.

Significance and Importance of Sri Vedavalli Sameta Sri Vedanarayana Swamy Temple, Nagalapuram:
Every year in the month of march, the Sun rays pass through the Gopuram entrance for three days and fall on the main deity of the temple.

This great miracle happens on the days of Shukla Dwadasi, Tryodasi and Chaturdasi in the month of Phalguna(Telugu month). 
  • Day 1: Shukla Paksha Dwadasi 12th day of Phalguna Month - The Sun rays touch the Lord's Feet.
  • Day 2: Shukla Paksha Dwadasi 13th day of Phalguna Month - The Sun rays fall on Lord's Chest.
  • Day 3: Shukla Paksha Dwadasi 14th day of Phalguna Month - The Sun rays touch the Lord's Fore Head.
Temple History:
According to inscriptions, the temple was built by Sri Krishnadeva Raya, the Vijayanagar Emperor during his regime. The mandir is a fine structure of Vijayanagar Style Architecture. Sri Krishnadeva Rayulu constructed this temple in the memory of his mother Nagala Devi. Hence the temple town is known as Nagalapuram. Prior to this, the village was known as Harigandapuram.

It is believed that Lord Maha Vishnu in the form of Matsya Avatar killed Somukudu( who stolen four Vedas) here and saved the Four Vedas from demon. Later the four Vedas are returned to Lord Brahma.  

At present, this sacred temple is under the administrative control of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) from 24-9-1967 onwards.
