What is Adhika Masa Brahmotsavam in Tirumala? (or) Why two brahmotsavams are conducted at Tirumala in 2015?
As per the Hindu Lunar Calendar, an extra month occurs once in three years. This time, the Ashada Masam(Aadi month in Tamil) is occurred twice in the year 2015. Literally, 'Adhika Masam' means 'an Extra Month'. The 'Adhika Masam' is also known as 'Purushottama Maasam' because of its religious significance. The 'Adhika Masam' is dedicated to Lord Krishna.
This year 2015, the 'Adhika Ashada Masa' begins on June 17, 2015 and ends on July 16, 2015 followed by regular Nija Ashada Masam which begins on July 17, 2015 and ends on August 14, 2015.
It is an ongoing tradition to conduct two brahmotsavms in Tirumala Temple when an 'Adhika Masam' is occurred in a year as per Lunar Calendar. But in normal due course one annual brahmotsavam is performed to the Lordin the month of 'Aswayuja' (September/October).
The Adhika Masam Brahmotsavams are also known as 'Salakatla Brahmotsavams'. It is celebrated in the month of 'Bhadrapada'(August/September).
The annual brahmotsavams are called as 'Navaratri Brahmotsavams' and these are celebrated in the month of 'Aswayuja'(September/October).

It is a great and most important festival in Tirumala Temple. During the period of brahmotsavams, the Lord rides on various Vahanas along four temple streets and the Almighty blesses ALL. Devotees shall have a delightful God's Heaven atmosphere in Tirumala during brahmotsavams twice in this year 2015.
