Sri Kalahasti Temple Abhishekam Timings, Various Kinds of Abhishekams. Sri kalahasteeswara Swamy Vari Devasthanam

Sri Kalahasti is the abode of Sri Kalahasteeswara Swamy(Lord Shiva) and Goddess Gnana Prasunambika. There are many sevas, poojas are being offered to the Lord and the Goddess daily in the temple. Abhishekam, one of the important ritual that is performed to the Untouched Lingam(main deity) and the Goddess Gnana Prasunambika.

Significance of Abhishekam:
Abhishekam means "Bathing the Lingam". It is the most important ritual and part of daily prayers in this temple. Abhishekams are performed to Sri Kalahasteeswara Swamy and Goddess Gnana Prasunambika four times in a day. It signifies the act of cleansing and singing melodious hymes of praises to the Lord. During the Abhishekam Flowers, Sandal paste and sacred Threads are offered to the Lord. The Main Lingam(main deity) of the temple is not touched by any human hands.

Various kinds of Abhishekams:
Panchakarpur Abhishekam:
It is only and the most important Abhishekam offered to the Untouched and pristine Lingam. The Abhishekam is offered with Panchakarpur(camphor mixed with Water, Honey, Milk, Camphor and Panchamrutham).

Rudra Abhishekam:
Another important Abhishekam offered to the Lord is  Rudra Abhishekam. It involves bathing the Lord with Milk and Camphor and offer prayers and chanting mantras while performing the Abhishekam.

Pala(Milk) Abhishekam:
Pala Abhishekam is also offered to the Lord. It involves bathin g the Lord with Milk.

Panchamrutha Abhishekam:
This is another significant Abhishekam offered to the Lord and his consort Gnana Pransunambika.

Saniswara Abhishekam:
Saniswara Abhishekam is offered to Shani(God of Saturn). The idol of Shani is located opposite to Sri Kalahasteeswara Swamy inside the temple.
