Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board(SASB) announced the commencement date of Shri Amarnath Yatra 2015.
Normally the beginning date for the Amarnath Yatra is not fixed and it
is not possible logically to maintain a fixed duration of the yatra
every year. But, according to the ongoing tradition (Parampara) the ending date for the yatra is fixed which concludes on the day of Raksha Bandhan(Shravana Purnima) in every year.
Special Pooja: A special pooja shall be conducted on the day of JYESTHA PURNIMA at any suitable location in route area to invoke blessings of Lord Shiva for the smooth and safe conduct of Pilgrimage

Shri Amarnath Yatra 2015 Dates:
In the year 2015, Amarnath Yatra 2015 shall begin on July 2, 2015(Thursday), an auspicious day of PURSHOTAM PURNIMA and ends on the day of Shravana Purnima (Raksha Bandhan/Rakhi Poornima) which is on August 29, 2015(Saturday). The duration of the yatra for the year 2015 is 59 days(In 2014, the duration of yatra was 40days).

Variation of Duration of Amarnath Yatra in Every Year:
- In 2011, Raksha Bandhan was on 13th August and yatra duration was 46 days.
- In 2012, Raksha Bandhan was on 2nd August and the yatra duration was 39 days only.
- In the year 2013, the commencement date was on June 28, 2013 and Raksha Bandhan was on 21st August and.
- Last year 2014, the duration of yatra was 40days
This year 2015, the duration of Yatra is 59 days. The duration of the yatra for
this year 2015 is 59 days and it is longer duration compared to 2011,2012,2013 and 2014 years. Hence the duration of the Amarnath Yatra varies from year to year depending upon climatic conditions and other security reasons. Then....

Beginning Date and duration of the annual Amarnath Yatra. This committee takes various factors such as (weather, Yatra works, assessment of
the pace of Snow-Melt and more..) into consideration and finally will
recommend the Yatra commencement date and finalize the Schedule and
Duration of the Amarnath Yatra.
